Exercising and sports are good for the health and they have become an undisputed part of our lives. But sometimes, due to various reasons, one can get injured while playing sports or exercising. The reasons for such injury could be:

  • Accidents
  • Poor training practices
  • Improper gear
  • Not warming up or stretching enough

Exercise and sports related injuries usually fall into two types:

  • Overuse Injury: Overuse injuries are those injuries which are sustained due to repeated actions. These include:
  • Muscle strains
  • Inflamed and painful tendons
  • Sore heels
  • Tight calves/Achilles

            The symptoms for overuse injuries are swelling, redness, warmth to the

          touch, impaired function of the part.

  • Traumatic Injury: These are physical injuries of sudden appearance and severeness which require urgent and immediate medical attention. These include:
  • Bruising (contusions) or cuts
  • Sprains and strains
  • Fractures/broken bones
  • Dislocations (when a joint pops out)
