All India Pre Veterinary Test 2016 – A Glimpse

Every years Veterinary Council of India (VCI) presents students from all over India a chance to join the veterinary college of their choice by appearing in the All India Pre Veterinary Test 2016.  It is a national level examination on the basis of which admission to 15% seats of veterinary colleges are filled. Qualifying the AIPVT examination will get the student admission in 5 year B.V.Sc & A.H degree course which includes 6 months rotating internship.

To be eligible to appear in the examination, student should have cleared class 12 examinations with Chemistry, English, Biology and Physics as compulsory subjects and should have scored at least 50% marks in class 12, students belonging to SC/ST/OBC category are required to score 40% marks. Students from Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for admission through AIPVT as J&K does not participate in AIPVT’s admission process.

In this article we will have a quick look at the admission process of AIPVT:

  • Application Process:The application process will begin with the release of the application form. The application form will be available online and interested students will have to fill in their details on the online application along with uploading their photograph, signature and thumb impression on the website.
  • Syllabus & Exam Pattern: There is no specific syllabus for AIPVT exams, the exam will be based on the syllabus of Class 11 & 12.
    • The pen & paper based examination will be available in Hindi and English and will have 180 questions.
    • The answers are to be marked on the OMR sheet using blue/black ball pen.
    • Correct answer will be awarded with three marks while every incorrect answer will be the reason of penalty of 1 mark.
  • Result:Theresult of AIPVT exam will be declared tentatively in the month of June/July 2016. Veterinary Council of India will provide the answer keys of AIPVT prior to the declaration of the result and the students who qualified the exam and are in Merit/Waiting list will get notified by E-mail or SMS.
    • There is no provision of rechecking of OMR sheets.
  • Challenging the answer keys: Students can challenge the answer keys within a stipulated time once they have been published on the website. Students are required to pay Rs. 1000 for every challenged answer. The money will be returned in case the answer given by the student is correct.
  • AIPVT Counselling: First round of counseling will be for 754 candidates (377 placed in merit list & 377 from waitlist) including reserved category. The notifications related to the counseling will be published on the official website and no individual notification will be sent to the students individually.
    • Documents to be presented at the time of counseling: The following documents are to be presented for verification purpose at the time of counseling:
      • 6 colored photographs.
      • AIPVT Admit card & Rank card.
      • Class 10 certificate as proof of DOB
      • Class 12 certificate.
      • Character certificate.
      • Medical or Category certificate (If claiming reservation).
