Students who are interested in undertaking five year integrated B.A. LL.B (Hons.)Course from National Law University, Delhi are required to appear in All India Law Entrance Test (AILET).  Students who are interested in taking admission into one year LL.M program or Ph.D. program are also required to appear in the examination to get admission in National Law University, Delhi.

For the academic session starting in 2016, the admission notification was rolled out on October 13, 2015. The candidates can start making applications from January 01, 2016 while the applications can be made till April 2016. The examination for the same will be conducted on May 01, 2016 at designated centers located across the nation.

In this article we will have a look at various things related to All India Law Entrance Test (AILET):

  • Eligibility: To be eligible to get admission by the means of AILET the students should have to satisfy the following minimum conditions:
    • Age: The age of the candidate needs to be at least 21 years as on July 01, 2016.
      • The upper age limit for candidates belonging to scheduled caste and scheduled tribes is 23 years.
    • Academic Qualification: Candidates should have cleared or appearing in class 12 examination.
    • Minimum Marks: The candidate should have scored at least 50% marks in their academic examination to be considered for admission through AILET.
  • Application Process: The application process is completely online and the candidates are required to make applications on the official website of the NLU. There is no offline process to make application.
  • Documents to be uploaded: To complete the application process the scanned photograph is to be uploaded. The specifications of the photograph are as follow:
    • Format: The image to be uploaded needs to be in JPG, GIF or BMP format.
    • Size: The size of the image needs to be less than 150 KB.
  • Application Fee: The application fee for the AILET can be paid either online using the payment gateway or can also be deposited in the Post Office. The amount of fee depends upon the category of the candidate:
    • General Candidates                        :                       3000
    • Person with disability & SC/ST Candidates :                       1000
    • Below Poverty Line candidates :                       Exempted
  • Examination Pattern: Candidates are required to answer 150 questions and each question carries 1 mark. The question paper will have 35 questions from each of English, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude and Reasoning while 10 questions will be from Mathematics.
  • Selection Process: In order to qualify for admission, students must score minimum of 40% (30% for SC and ST candidates) in the entrance examination.
    • The candidates will be offered admission as per their All India Rank calculated on the basis of their performance in the entrance test.
